Stretch a Sketch
Using sport as inspiration, we were asked to challenge the function of a pair of NIKE shoes for NIKE78. We wanted to challenge the use of NIKE trainers in sport by combining sport and art in homage to our childhood TV legends Rolf and Neil. We developed a sport that we would want to be involved in, that would make our heroes proud. For us, sport is really about doing something physical rather than a spectator event. The same goes for our projects, all physical, they look fun on the surface but are hard work underneath.
As kids neither of us were allowed NIKE shoes and so had to do sports day in Hi-Techs instead. Constantly mortified and not wanting to be seen for fear of embarrassing ourselves. Things have clearly changed.

New Funbags
Photographs of three different filmed performances about expectation and disappointment, desire and rejection and a culture of desperation. The films were exhibited along with other objects in my “Fuck it, I’ll Do Anything To Get On Jeremy Kyle” installation. Photographed by Jess Bonham

The Half-Baked Arcade
In collaboration with jewellery designers Lucie Gledhill and Autumn Abebrese, we hosted an activity at one of the popular Friday Lates at the V&A Museum. The event, sponsored by French Connection, was in conjunction with the ‘Metal Rocks’ exhibition and made up of various installations, workshops, stalls and activities. Our piece was a fun-packed solution to all your gambling and bling needs in the form of an edible jewellery arcade machine.

Winner
I had never won anything. I had never come first. I wanted something to make my Mum and Dad proud. I wanted to win.
